New West Playwrights, an EST/LA program committed to strengthening the work of young playwrights and providing them with a support system of professional artists, is now accepting applications for our 2024 class of playwrights under the age of 30. Membership includes weekly meetings, staged readings of plays in development, and a working connection with one of Los Angeles’ premiere theaters of new work. New West members and alumni have signed with agents, received professional productions around the country, and gone on to write for companies like HBO and Marvel Studios. 

 

Requirements:

• Your 30th birthday must occur during or after the year 2024

• You must live in the greater Los Angeles area

 

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Applications can be emailed to Troy Loftin and Jake Fiedler at newwestplaywrights@estlosangeles.org with the subject “<Your Name> - New West 2024”

 

In the body of your email, please include your name, phone number, birth date, and any social media links you wish to share.

 

Attached as a single PDF document, please include:

• a maximum of 25 pages of work that best represent you as a playwright

• your playwriting resume

• a one-page letter of intent — why do you want to be a part of New West?
